Out of sight - out of mind Project 2005

This sequence of photographs forms part of a series of actions and interventions that took place in a dark, damp, disused basement in a grand old Victorian house in Kent. The site and its forgotten objects were temporally invaded; the objects were rearranged, un-stacked and restacked. The hidden traces of histories embedded within the objects mixed with projected images of furniture that belong to other places, are brought face to face in an absurd attempt to appropriate the space, to make it home, to inhabit an inhabitable space. The intangible/absent clash with the real; Fiction and reality melt together creating a superimposition of spaces, time and places.
